The Hits Just Keep Coming

I can't stop laughing at the great one-liners written in an open letter, printed in Newsweek.

"Hamas wants peace"
Of course, just a few lines down, Mr. Abu Tir also caveats, "Our problem is with the Israeli occupation." This of course, opens the door to blowing things up all in the name of the aforementioned "peace".

Then there is this one:

"Stop calling us terrorists."
I don't know Mr. Abu Tir, if you stop ACTING like terrorists, then the world might stop calling you terrorists. Just a thought.
"...[calling Hamas terrorists] creates a feeling of oppression."
Oh...we are so very sorry. We (the rest of the civilized world) doesn't want you to feel bad, so I guess we will stop. Of course, on second thought...
"The feeling of oppression can lead to disaster."
...and by disaster, Mr. Abu Tir means terrorism. But they are not terrorists, so how could that be? What is this some kind of bad Escher drawing?
"In World War II, when the Japanese planes hit Pearl Harbor, America was not quiet. It reciprocated by hitting Japan with a nuclear bomb."
Oh, so now the US is the "terrorist"? The one thing Mr. Abu Tir fails to mention is that the dropping of the Atomic Bomb was a calculated gamble to help end a long and ugly war that had seen many horrors. Not really a fair comparison, but then I think Mr. Abu Tir may have missed that day in school.

"The presence of Hamas is a guarantee of safety and stability in the region."
Ummm.... okay.
"Don't be afraid that we'll use the [financial aid given to the Palestinians] to buy arms. We can always find arms on the black market."
Good Lord Man, I thought you were not terrorists... just some peace loving hippies living on the West Bank. So, let me get this straight, you won't use OUR money to buy weapons which you won't perform terrorist acts with. You will use someone else's money to not do that with... oh, I see.
"The West has nothing to fear from Hamas."
No, but our traditional allies do... so... umm... "no".
"We are not Al Qaeda."
You are correct, you are Hamas - which is bad enough.

The sad part is that some folks will read this and say, "Oh, I didn't know that. I guess they are okay then. After all, they are not Al Qaida - those are the REAL terrorists."

The answer Mr. Abu Tir, is a firm, "No!" Stop asking.
