Assumptions

Not really being interested in the shoot-em-up, I had not read any articles about the California postal shootings that happened recently. Of course, I had seen the headlines, just not gone any deeper.

I was just browsing through some news articles when one popped up about the shooting. About 1/4 of the way down, it mentions that the shooter was named "Jennifer". WOW! I had to stop and reread that. Initially, I thought that I had misread it to say that she was a victim. Why? Because I had assumed that the shooter was a male - probably white. You know what "they" say about assuming things: When you assume, you make an ASS out of U and ME.

You've come a long way baby.
