More On The PTC

I just finished browsing the ratings for a few television shows I frequently watch in order to find out what the Parent's Televison Council had to say about them....turns out I am watching things that I should not be...

Here is a little of what they had to say (and what I say about that):

The Simpsons
The Simpsons is rated yellow for language due to its frequent use of the words "damn," "hell," and "crap."

Wow..."crap"...that IS bad isn't it? Guess I should just forget that knee-slapping, milk-out-the-nose humor because they are not judicious in their use of "crap".

COPS
...Since the violent scenes are not only explicit but also real, the program is inappropriate for young children.

That is, unless you are a child who lives in a violent neighborhood. I guess those children should not look out in the living room. Scary stuff from you non-white, other-than-Baptist, impoverished people...then again, the PTC just watches COPS to further justify why they live in the gated communities in the suburbs.

The Gilmore Girls
The use of such words as "bastard," "bitch," "jackass," "ass," "hell," "damn," "screw," "crap," and euphemisms for f--k have earned Gilmore Girls a yellow rating in this category.

Okay, so I don't really watch Gilmore Girls, but I had to include this because, again, they use that "crap" word - as well as "euphemisims for f--k". Euphemisms for fork? I don't get it. What do these people have against utensils?

Will and Grace
Coarse sexual material, coupled with the show's frequent foul language (including words such as "ass" and "piss") has earned Will & Grace a red light rating.

Coarse sexual material? Ass? Piss? Sounds like an ad for cheap toilet paper. What exactly is "coarse sexual material"? Can I buy that by the yard?

Everybody Loves Raymond
Language on this series, used to be harsh, but since the first of 2004, has dropped to a record low number of just 8 uses of mild "hell," "crap," and "damn" in 6 episodes. Sexual references have been non-existent since January 2004. Due to the reduction in foul language and the disappearance of sexual references, both have been downgraded to green ratings.

Wow! These folks need to get a life! Kind of makes me think about the good "Christian" citizens who were caught in the porno theater "just casing the place for a future protest". Uh huh. Me thinks thou dost protest too much!

Who in the hell...oops...damn...sorry...crap...dang...ummm... who counts this shit? Who are these people?

They need a hobby.

I think that they giggle every time that they type "shit" on their website.

Good news though, we can all watch 7th Heaven - or even a Touched By An Angel episode or two.

On a personal note, I just noticed that Valerie Bertinelli is on Touched By An Angel (you can see how often I watch). Nowhere in her biography page do they mention that she is Mrs. Van Halen. What odd conversations must happen over the dinner table at Casa Van Halen (may even rival Mary Matalin and James Carville - a side note: Liking The Ragin' Cajun is one of my guilty pleasures. I just should not like him for the whole "Clinton Thing", but I just can't help it).
