Foiled by Geography

My quest was left unsatisfied.

After a whirlwind tour of such exotic locales as Columbia, SC, Dallas, TX, Long Beach, CA and Phoenix, AZ, I was headed across the country toward my goal of the 48th of 48 contiguous states....when the guy behind me (marketing manager for Heater Meals of all things) pointed out that I still would not reach Ohio.

"Isn't Cincinnati in Ohio?" I asked hesitantly....thinking that I must have really missed something core in my education at some point.

"Cincinnati is...but the Cincinnati airport is in Kentucky," replied the instant meal marketer.

Dubbed as "America's most convenient gateway", the Cincinnati airport is truly in Kentucky...convenient for some, but not for me and my quest. Missed it by 12 miles....

Moses could not enter the promised land and I can't seem to enter Ohio...I think I got the better end of that deal....

I'd say this is some sort of conspiracy, but it seems to go even deeper than that -- perhaps a flaw in the space-time continuum that causes an inexorable repulsion between you and scarlet carnations:
