Relaxing The Standards

When did it become acceptable to use slang in the body of a story? I expect more from Newsweek....

Appeals for calm by 50 “big brothers,” neighborhood twentysomethings who have used their street cred to soothe the situation. The mentors have succeeded where police in riot gear have failed. Hell, I might just have to use my "Street Cred"....wonder what reporting agency gives you a "Street Cred" rating? What kind of "Street Cred" do you have to have to qualify for good financing? Hmmm....Newsweek certainly has opened up a whole series of questions with this article....
