Mixed Message

I was driving back from Cedar Key yesterday when I saw a most troubling sight: a manger scene, complete with Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, some donkeys, some candy canes, a Santa and a few reindeer - all very well co-mingled.

This was not a small manger scene mind you, but a fairly good sized one...say 6 - 8 feet wide.

Scary, scary stuff.

So, let me get this mythology straight, Mary and Joseph have a little baby in a manger and are visited by donkeys and Santa, bearing gifts of candy for the Savior, pulled by 8 reindeer.

Nope, no bastardization of the High Holiday there. The "Battle for Christmas" was won in that yard - now on to fight the rest of the War!!!!

BTW, I am betting that there is a War on Easter coming up... but then again, the Gods of Commerce don't bank on Easter Bunny Shopping so much....
