C.S. Lewis et al

While my brother tends to center on the negative, I tend to be a bit more...well... not him - which is a particularly good thing. Rather than point out that, on November 22nd, the world lost C.S. Lewis... I will point to today as C.S. Lewis' birthday.

Oddly, today holds a quirky collection of events....
  1. Along with C.S. Lewis, today is also the birthday of one of my favorite authors, Madeline L'Engle. How soon will A Wrinkle in Time be made into a Johhny Dep movie? The answer, all too soon....
  2. Natalia Nikolaevna Zakharenko proves that she is the only kind of wood that doesn't float. I always suspected Robert Wagner...he just looks shifty. BTW, that is a great way to get out of jury duty: When asked about your thoughts on the defendant, reply that he/she just looks "shifty" - jury member excused!
  3. Israel is born out of a UN Resolution - back when UN resolutions meant something.
  4. Richard Byrd is the first person to fly over the South Pole. I have always been jealous of the "explorer" generation. These folks just seemed to be so....bold.
  5. And lastly, Zeppo Marx died on this date. Zeppo (aka Herbert Marx) went on to do things like invent and manufacture the clamps that held the atomic bomb in the Enola Gay. He also invented a watch that checked your pulse and alerted someone if you were having a heart attack. Zeppo was more than he seemed....so it seems.
