Quick To Point Out
Diane said that she never really felt comfortable with that whole passage in Matthew 7 about judging people, lest you be judged yourself. I had to point out to her that all it says is that YOU will be judged on the same terms that you judge others. I have no problem with that. I continuously gauge my actions against my own standards.
And I made sure to point out to her that it is the hypocrites that end up in Hell.... so if you are an honest - yet judgmental - person, don't worry about it. I think you are pretty safe.

The minute that you start the guessing game about who is (or is not) going to end up in hell, you've pretty much crossed the exact line that Matthew 7 warns about. To me, that game's at the root of many of the world's problems right now. The notion that you apply your judgements to yourself doesn't mean it's okay. If you were, say, a compulsive pincher and you tried to defend your habit of giving everyone else's flesh a good twist by pointing out the bruises on your own arm, it wouldn't make the pinches hurt anyone any less.
